I just recently (yesterday) sampled some of these teas, they tasted like a very bitter lemonade. The Aloe one had slimy aloe in it. I spit out the aloe stuff. I hope it doesn't turn out to have any bacteria! I wonder if Lindsey Lohan is drinking this?? LOL A drink that turns out to be fermented and carry alcohol!! Not a big percentage, but I wonder if it would be enough to set off one of those ankle bracelets??

Sorry about that, I started writing and had to bail. I had a drink with aloe in it and liked the little gelatinous blobs. As for alcohol, it is involved in many drinks, I think there is a small amount permited in soft drinks. I am quite fond of spicy ginger beer which may indeed have a small amount of alcohol. Alcohol is produced when you use yeast to make bread, I 'm not surprised that some of these new drinks have some in them. Perhaps some of these drinks are getting too close to being beer.

I hadn't thought about drinks that are fermented getting closer to beer, until this article. Who knows maybe they'll come up with a new alcohol drink somewhere in their process. LOL

Good thing we have another refir out in the garage. As soon as I tell my husband about this, we will go buy up a few cases until they get this straightened out. I am just now drinking a Gingerberry Synergy, but I prefer the Divine Grape.

It isn't soda, it isn't Prilosec (which has recently been show to cause BONE FRACTURES and hasn't been pulled off the market!!) and it isn't booze. It is a health drink and great for digestion.........the FDA rides again. Meanwhile letting melamine. salmonella, e-coli and other real threats run wild. Get ready for another wild summer of recalls........after people have already died. I am unaware of ANY bad health effects from drinking Synergy. And we do not get drunk off of this stuff.........it already states on the label that it is a fermented product............so is miso, are they going to take that off the market also??

The FDA just doesn't like competition as they aren't "getting their cut" (kickback) as they do from the industries that they SHOULD be regulating..............burns me up. Good thing I came across this..........thanks for the seed.

So you drink this and is it doing anything for you? I said I just had my first sample, but I wasn't happy with the Aloe one that had something slimy in it.

What is your take on this product as far as taste and if it seems to give you any benefits? I do drink soda, but have found there is more of a metallic taste in it than there used to be and have started drinking natural sodas and organic juices more. I am trying to limit my soda intake and drink more fruit drinks. The problem so far is even in organics some are made from concentrate and not pure juice!

Is the Gingerberry Syngery one of their drink flavors? I only remember a ginger flavor and the Aloe, but can't remember the name of the ginger one?

What types of drinks have you found that you would recommend?

PS LOL buy a few cases, bottoms up! Even though you said it doesn't get you drunk, I can joke about it!

You got it, Anonymous!! My evil plan is to drink one after the other to get drunk as a skunk!! LOL. The water or liquid intoxication factor would kill me first, it would have to be so much.

Kombucha Tea was created by a woman who was making her own (not recommended, as it can be tricky) and recovered from cancer, and credited that largely to Pro-biotics, Kombucha being one. Plain yoghurt, especially Greek which is stronger, is another. Fermented foods, such as pickled vegetables, above-mentioned miso, etc should be regularly consumed in the SAD (Standard American Diet)..........well at least that is what I was taught some 20 plus years ago by macrobiotic teachers. I had a rare type of cancer and found out that what Americans consider to be a well-balanced diet could well be getting them too sick, too soon.

Back to Synergy, you just have to find the flavour that appeals to you the best. Divine Grape really is Divine, at least to me, and is a substitution for soda, which I do not drink. But, the best part is, that I no longer require taking Proton Pump Inhibitors, like aforementioned Prilosec. I mean, is shutting down your body's own digestive juice making abilities the best way to go??

The FDA doesn't like anything that isn't pasteurized. Oh, how we miss our raw milk. They took that away many years ago............The FDA drives me NUTZ!

Yeah, if you are going to drink "juice" just check the label for sugar content, might as well have a soda...........and eat plain yoghurt, not the sugar ones. It can be kind of sour, but you'll get used to it. Or add your own honey and fruit.

          My rant for the day............lol

PS You asked about the flavours, well there are so many (unless they all go bye-bye!) and some of them (Synergy) taste really disgusting to me too. Let's hope it's not to late for you to give some more a test drive!!

          LOL--great rant!

I just found out that the probiotics help with FM symptoms. Yeah water toxicity can be a killer.

That's good to know. If the FDA gets it's way and pasteurizes this, then there won't be any point to buying it, so hopefully you know of other treatments for FM.

Yes, try Malic Acid as well. It can be found in formulations at Whole foods, but you may need to special order it, depending on how it is carried. It is not overly expensive.

Haven't researched that yet, I am trying to get it from a natural source instead of vitamin supplements. I need to find out which foods contain this, thanks for the reminder!! :)

Sure, and hope you will find the natural. I really don't like "supplementing" too much either, as they say, food is the best medicine, you just have to know where to look. Wish you luck there.

By the way, my hubby went to the Whole Foods yesterday and Every Single Fermented Beverage has been pulled..............shocking. So we are back to plain yoghurt, miso, and pickles............our bodies need fermented foods........and we think this is really awful. The FDA stikes again!

Oh sorry to hear that, but hey didn't you say alcohol is fermented (I already knew this, just don't think of it like that), maybe a little wine will help?? I heard red is better for you, CHEERS!!

Oh yeah, I forgot about vino, etc. Probably because I don't drink the stuff. It doesn't agree with me, and instead makes me feel like I've had a lot of coffee!! Not very relaxing........

Oh sorry to hear that it disagrees with you, you could always cook with it. I don't know if that would mess up the benefits of the fermentation? Is there anything else you could consume besides yogurt that has a beneficial aspect?

Thanks, I do cook with wine and it looses all the alcohol content, so no adverse affects noted.

I am very upset that the FDA tries to mess with products that aren't doing any harm, yet today it finally comes out that Avandia (a drug to help stablize diabetics' blood sugar levels) has been actually GIVING 1 in 37 people taking it, heart attacks!!!

OMG, you know, I just can't take that they supposedly "police" our food and drugs, but in actuality they do not. They are actually approving things that kill people. Fermented food, there isn't anything wrong with that, and some of us like it. For you, it might be wine, for me it might be Synergy. But they need to get with it!! Do their job, and then get off our backs.........

I don't know sometimes I believe like many others, that if the company has a big enough bank they can get away with more things. I came across a post to a seed that talked about the problem with medications have too many side effects. The article was about the regeneration of teeth with small cavities, and new research on it. The article indicated it could be done on mice but not for all cavities, only a small percentage, it is still in the research stages in Europe.

Interesting. Europe and other places are often way ahead of us in many fields. We can borrow freely, but usually do not. As you say, bankroll!!

Tried BAO (Bad Ass Organics) out of NYC and loved their product. I'd tried other brands and they seemed too twangy for me. BAO fit the bill. Hopefully they'll have a wider distribution soon.

Thanks any new product information is great.

Have you tried Natural brew it is not organic, but it is natural, the taste is better than the chemical taste in regular sodas. They have Ginseng Cola, Root Beer, Ginger Ale and a new one I have not tried Chai cola.

I know organic is better and I am trying to eat more organic products and drink more organic drinks. I have several organic products I want to try, but I try a few new ones at a time so I will have some of the things I like.
