Think of it as one more reason not to write checks.

Hackers believed to be operating out of Russia have figured out a high-tech way to carry out the decidedly low-tech crime of check fraud, a computer security company says — writing at least $9 million in fakes against more than 1,200 legitimate accounts.

It is sad that we can't seem to secure our personal information on the internet.

That is a very clever scheme they thought up there. Thanks for seeding.

Despite the acts I often have to admit some respect for the ingenuity of criminals.

I bet if you found out is was used against you personally you wouldn't have as much respect, but sometimes it is hard to not admire the creativity and the time they are willing to put into this. Then again they probably don't have a regular job, so they have enough time to do this, one can just imagine them living off money from the last scam, while they were hatching their new one. I know that is really just an opinion, who knows this person could have a great IQ and just not the right incentive to use it in the right way.

That is pretty much what I meant. I am also amazed that they can have such a small conscience about what they are doing.

I wasn't trying to call you on this and I hope it didn't come across like that. You made me think about how all of us admire people who can manipulate systems, but I did want to see what you would say about it if you were to be a victim of something like this in the future. I was a victim of a low tech scam that screwed up my banking account on 2 different occasions. I appreciate your comment and enjoyed someone making me look at it in a different light!

I agree about that I work with this guy at work that does some stupid things to others and comes out smelling like a rose off a sh>>>t pile, that didn't get anything on them from their surroundings.

I hate people like that, but I have learned that usually they get their just deserts in the end. You just have to wait for the web of deceit to catch up with them.

karma is a great thing, it never pays to try to do something to someone out of anger or hate, because of how they are to you, I learned this years ago when I left a job because of harassment. I didn't do anything and a few years later that person was harassed by their boss and left. :)
