A postdoctoral position in Children's Hospital Boston is available to study the role of glutamate transporters in synaptic plasticity important in the developing and adult mammalian CNS. Studies will use mouse models to dissect the contributions of glial and neuronal glutamate transporters in normal synaptic transmission, in epileptogenesis and in behavior. We are using conditional knockout and knockin technology to permit cell type specific deletion and reactivation of the glutamate transporter GLT-1.
